Area firefighters work to control a propane tank fire Thursday, July 1, 2010, during a training class held at the Oronoko Township Fire Department in Berrien Springs. The Michigan Propane Gas Association's Emergency Response Team conducted a PERT (Propane Emergency Response Training) class allowing firefighters from 11 area agencies the opportunity to fight propane fires in controlled simulations. More than 5,000 first responders have been trained through the program. Midwest Propane provided over 1,500 gallons of propane during the live-burn scenarios.
